Is it a Boy of a Girl?
Since Tyler found out about the baby he has been just a bag full of questions! He was dying to find out what the baby was. Every day when I would pick him up from camp he would say to me, "Do you know if it is a boy or girl yet?" So once I set my sonogram appointment I told him the day and that he could come with me too. I told him he would be able to see the baby on TV and then we would get pictures of the baby like the pictures that we already have. (He had already seen some of the early sonogram pictures and if you have seen those you know they look a little distorted so when I first showed him I told him first that we could see the baby but it was not exactly what the baby looks like because they take the pictures through my belly. He was very curious about that. I told him that the baby looks a little weird in the picture but it would be fine when it comes out. So when I should him the pictures he goes, "Oh! The baby is so...... cute? Well, not cute, but nice.") So anyway, he wanted to know if the doctor was going to have to take the baby out and then put the baby back in for the pictures. I explained to him what they do. He was pretty excited about going with me and started a count down. Anyway, his new question to ask me every day was what do I hope the baby is? I always answered it didn't matter as long as the baby is healthy. Then he asked me what healthy is. I explained to him and he said he knew some kids that were not healthy and he told me about them. After that conversation every time someone asked him about the baby he would just say he hoped it was healthy. Then one day I picked him up and he said, "Is the baby still healthy?" I said yes, as far as I knew. He then said that someone at camp told him that sometimes the babies are healthy but the moms are not. Great. So he asked me if I was healthy. I told him I was very healthy and everything would be fine. Ever since then he wants me to reassure him that even though I am having the baby in the hospital that doesn't mean that there is something wrong. He is for sure the most caring child I have ever seen, he worries about me the way that I worry about him. Any ache or pain I have he is right there... "What's wrong, are you OK?" I couldn't ask for a better helper.
At last the day to find out what the baby was came and when she told us, "It's a boy!" Tyler punched his fist in the air like he won some huge victory. Can you imagine how great a big brother he will be? I can't wait to see. I tell Tyler all the time that I want him to teach baby Peter how to be just like him because I could not ask for a better boy.
