Birthday Boy
Tyler turned 8 on Tuesday! He has been counting down for his birthday for months! Monday night he was so excited before he went to bed. When he woke up in the morning he was so happy. I took donuts to his school because that was what he wanted for his treat. Deborah picked him and Gregory up from school and brought another snack for the afternoon. She took them to the mall and let Tyler pick out some Yugio and Pokeman cards and then they ate. For his birthday celebration I asked him what he wanted instead of cake because I know he doesn't like cake. So he said the only thing he wanted was ice cream. Vanilla ice cream. What a weirdo. Of course I got him what he wanted but just to make I t interesting I got all the things to make a sundae. I got sprinkles, gummy bears, m&m's, chocolate syrup, cherries and that magic shell stuff. Remember that? I love that stuff. Of course Tyler only wanted sprinkles and gummy bears. OK. I stuck a candle in his ice cream and we sang him happy birthday like that. Scott, Pete, Matt, Lilly, Deborah, Gregory and Jeff were all there with him for his birthday. I thought that was nice. He seemed really happy. He got a ton of great gifts and read all of his cards. He was thrilled to see he got the Heely's he had been wanting. He got a ton of things. Jeff and Deborah got him all the Pokeman games for his gameboy only because Tyler told Gregory he asked for one game and Gregory said he had all the games. So of course Deborah calls Jeff and tells him and they get him every game because they don't want Gregory to be making fun of Tyler. Tyler was so happy when he saw the games. It was cute. Pete got him the ipod he has been wanting and a bat he picked out so he was happy about that. When he opened the ipod he yelled out in Spanish. It's the Mexican in him! Matt got him a PSP game and Scott got him a baseball glove. He got some money in the mail from Edith and Tabor and also a TON of Yugio and Pokeman cards from Steve. When he opened that gift even Gregory was amazed by all the cards. He even got one pack in Spanish! As for Scott's gift, it was kind of funny because of course he didn't wrap it and it was way too big for Tyler so he was like what is this?!? But overall he liked everything and was really happy.
The night before his birthday we went to my dad's to celebrate because my dad was going out of town the next day. Tyler went swimming and then opened his gifts from my dad and Lilly. He got a baseball trainer thing and a new shirt. He was happy about the baseball thing, it will help him work on his swing. For dinner we had shrimp and crab and it was so good. We had a cookie cake and then everyone played kick ball. I know, it sounds funny but Tyler had 10 people out in my dads front yard playing kick ball. It was pretty fun actually. The funny thing was that Twix was on our team and while guarding 3rd base he bit 3 people! He is ferocious! Right. And don't try saying he is an ankle biter because he did bite about knee level. Tyler honestly had the time of his life. He had come up with this master plan that he wanted to play kick ball and I thought no one would go for it but everyone cooperated and had a fun time. Tyler was so happy. Of course our team won. (We might have had a little bit of an advantage with the birthday boy on our team.)
Overall his birthday was great. He got everything he asked for and then some. He still has his party to come on Saturday so the birthday fun continues....

The Naked Dream
He had the dream! When I went in to wake Tyler up this morning he said he had a dream last night. So I asked him what it was about and he said, "Well it is embarrassing and a little funny." He then went on to tell me that he had a dream that he woke up late so he had no time to get ready so he was wearing a towel to school and when he went to recess the towel blew off. He said to me, "but don't worry mom, no one saw my privates because I went like this.." And he demonstrated how he covered his front and back parts. I was really laughing because doesn't everyone have this dream? I just think it's a little bit funny that he is 8 and having it but whatever!

Been a while...

Sorry, things have been hectic for sure.
Yesterday Tyler had a "concert" at school. It was so cute. The whole 2nd grade played their fluteophones. Tyler was so excited about it. He was front and center and in true Tyler form was blowing harder than all the other kids. I thought his eyeballs might pop out!
What else..
Baseball has been going great. He is still loving it. He pitched his first game a few weeks back and let me tell you he was so happy! I think everyone that knows Tyler knows that he has been waiting his entire baseball career for the day that he could actually pitch. His first game was awesome. He was so cute and looked like a real pitcher!! I mean it's not like he watched major league baseball that much but he had all the movements of a real pitcher. He struck 2 people out and just did a really good job. Twice the ball game back to him and he made some great plays but his firstbaseman couldn't catch! When he got off the mound he was drenched in sweat!! It was so cute. He pitched a second game about a week ago and I had to miss that game but Scott said that again he did great. He struck 2 people out again. Let's hope he keeps up the good work.
First Communion is this weekend and he is getting pretty excited for that. Last weekend we had his Jesus Day Retreat and basically they made all these things for First Communion. Like a banner, a tile thing that will hang in the church, a platter that will carry the gifts and also they baked a loaf of bread. Of all the things that was the only thing he seemed to like doing. He hates arts and crafts! He is not the most patient child for sure! I was glad I was there with him because he needed some gentle pushing for sure!! Anyway, at the end of the day they gave all the children their little mini loaves of bread and said that a lot of times what people do is they take the bread home and freeze it and then on Communion day they get out the bread at the celebration and break the bread as a symbolic gesture of the day. I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea and everyone could have a piece of the bread that Tyler baked. How sweet. So anyway, we get all out stuff and head home. Once we got home I told Tyler to be sure and get all his stuff out of the car. He hands me a ziploc bag. So I ask, "What is this from?" Tyler says, "It was from my bread." "Where is your bread?" Tyler - "I ate it." So on the way home he ate the entire loaf of bread!! That kid is a hoot! So, there will be no symbolic bread breaking going on Saturday. Oh well.
Tonight is his last class and then his big day. I hope it is special for him.
