I will keep you posted on his games.
American Idol
Me and Tyler always watch American Idol together. We have been watching it for like 3 years. We have this ritual that every time during the commercials we pretend we are trying out for American Idol. I remember the first time we played this I went first and sang the Fame song and Tyler was sitting on the couch watching me and I swear it was the sweetest thing ever. I mean when I say I was singing the song, I was REALLY singing the song! I was loud and dancing and the works! For those of you that know me, I cannot sing one little bit! But the funny thing was that Tyler was looking at me like he could not believe what I was doing he looked so proud. He had this look on his face like he never knew how talented I was. When I was done he exclaimed, "You are going to Hollywood." And the birth of our new tradition started. So every time we go in front of the TV, say where we are from and then sing. (We make up names and places and use different voices.) Whoever is not singing judges and says yeah, what a good job etc... Anyway, last night we were playing and I sang first and Tyler says, "You have a good voice, but that was a bad song." Is he so funny? I think he has been watching the show for too long. On another one of my turns he says, in a normal voice, "This is not for real mommy." and then in his best Simon voice says, "That was the worst singing I have ever heard - but I do like that song!" This kid is such a hoot!
Boating with Papa and Lilly
As if our weekend was not busy enough, Sunday after we packed up camping we went and spent the day on the boat with my dad and Lilly. It was the most beautiful day! Of course the three of us were covered in dirt and hardly had any sleep, so we were a little tired. It was the first time that Tyler had seen the boat, and he was so cute when he saw the cabin area - he walked down and said, "Oh this is like the club house!" He stayed down there pratically the whole day. He was so funny. He even fell asleep at some point. I don't know what it is about Tyler, but he is really not too crazy about boats. Maybe as he gets older. He loves to swim, so I don't think the water is the problem. Maybe he gets sea sick. Lilly's friend Mary Alice and her daughter Brittany came with us too, Brittany is 11 and everyone knows how Tyler loves the ladies! I swear he turns into another person when girls are around. If they are his age, he wants nothing to do with them, but if they are older he starts showing off and acting crazy! (We saw his classmate Jillian at the fair on Friday and he would not even say anything to her!) He is so his father at times like this. We went on the boat to this restaurant called The Pub and when we got there he was arm wrestling her and then doing all his crazy dance moves! He just gets really hyper and laughs a lot. It was pretty funny. At least I know ahead of time I am going to have problems with him and girls. (I guess I should have known this a long time ago since he got in trouble in kindergarten for kissing a girl!) What am I going to do with him? When we were at The Pub Tyler saw one of his school mates Jacob. They were pretty happy to see each other. It was such a great day! I have some really great pictures I will post soon.

Family Camp at Camp Soule
It was the big Boy Scout camping weekend! Saturday morning we had to check in by 9. Of course we were late being that we were at the fair until so late. It was OK, we didn't miss anything. Last time we went camping his entire den was there, this time there was only one other boy from his den. Oh well, he seem to make the best of it. He was climbing trees the whole time. That is his new thing, he loves to climb trees. I wish he wouldn't, I feel like I am going to have a heart attack watching him. At 12:30 was the flag raising and opening ceremonies. I have the cutest picture of Tyler and Will saluting the flag. He was so excited. The whole day was full of events. 1st he had fishing and he was trying so hard to be patient. I had this vision of what each of us were thinking sitting there on the dock. He was wishing it would be over and I was praying to God he would catch a fish since he sat there so patiently for so long. The only good thing that happened was there was a fish that kept stealing his corn. It came and took it 3 times! He thought that was funny. But, no fish for us. 2nd, we did practice for our skits for the night time camp fire. The kids were separate from the parents. 3rd we did Archery. I felt bad because it was hard for Tyler. It was hard for everyone. He could only pull the bow so far and then he couldn't get it to hit the target. He was really getting frustrated. He finally made one go REALLY far into the woods and he thought that was funny. 4th we did Ultimate which is like a football game with a frisbee. It was kind of fun. I always like to see how Tyler interacts with other children and adults. He is so sweet, some of those other children are hoodlums!! I mean it. They are so rude and obnoxious! Tyler is so sweet and well behaved, people always compliment him on that. 5th we did the monkey bridge, we did that last time when we went for just the day, but this time it was a little bit bigger and he liked that. Last we did wiffle ball and of course Tyler loved that. It was kids against adults and Tyler did really well. He was hitting and running. He also pitched to the adults and was striking us out!! One person hit the ball right back to him and he caught it! He did so good! We had some free time after that and then went to dinner. I have to admit, dinner was bad. Everything was so cold, it was like they just pulled it out of the fridge. All the kids around us were complaining and not eating, but Tyler scarfed his down, I think he had such a long day out in the sun he was drained. At 8 was the camp fire and all the adults did songs and the kids did skits. He thought that was pretty funny. Don't tell Tyler, but the skits were like torture!! They were so long and you were waiting for this punch line that just never came! It was pretty funny. So, after that was bed time for us. Really, it was like 10 or 11 before we got to bed. I slept in the sleeping bag with Tyler - HUGE MISTAKE!! Considering the last time I slept in the sleeping bag with him he was like 20 pounds lighter and just smaller, it was a big difference!! It was horrible!! First of all it was FREEZING! I slept with a cap on and my jacket but Tyler refused to keep his jacket on, I guess he just thought it was too weird. I kept waking up to make sure he was warm. His nose and ears were freezing. I looked on the internet and it was like 50 degrees! BRRRR. Anyway, Tyler has never been one to like sleeping close to people so while he was asleep he was fighting with all his might to get away from me. He would stiffen his arms and legs and then the zipper would bust open and he would be free! Of course I would wake up because when he broke free, all the cold air would come in. He did this like 5 times! Finally I got smart and put the zipper under him and he couldn't get out. This was only good for one thing, keeping us warm. The next day my stomach was so sore because he kicked me so much! That kid is wild! Needless to say I did not have a very good nights sleep, so I was laying there half asleep and half awake when this huge drop of ice cold water plopped right into my eye! I was so mad! In the morning, all the other campers were up and we could hear them, but we would not get out of the sleeping bags because it was so cold - we even missed breakfast! All in all we really did have a fun time. Tyler loved it and was covered with dirt by the time we left.
Fair Time
Friday night we went to the Fair! I love the fair, and only seems right that Tyler should love the fair too! Unfortunately, the child is not always on the same page as me. He was out of school on Friday because well, who knows, but he was out of school so he spent the morning with Elizabeth and in the afternoon he was with Scott. I got out of work at 4 and picked him up from Scott. I should have known it was a bad sign when as soon as I walk in the door he was like, "Ugh!" He wanted to stay and play video games. He is a junkie! So, we get in the car and I tell him, "Guess what Tyler?! We are going to the Fair!!" His response, "No, I just want to go home." I was so mad! I was thinking to myself I should just take him home, it is cheaper etc.. But, I wanted to go so bad, so I said, "too bad, we are going." (Such a mean mom right?) So we get there and of course as soon as Tyler sees the rides and the whole Midway, he goes, "Oh mom! I love the fair! I thought the fair is like a carnival, but it is funner!!" He was so happy. He rode like every single ride and we ate SO much food. We got there at 5 and stayed until 10! He was so happy when he got dark and he thought we were going home, but I said we didn't have to. On the way home he said he was sorry for saying he didn't want to go to the fair. Now I am back to loving him!

Jungle Gym
Tyler and his friends are outside playing on the jungle gym - I swear he has been outside since noon! He LOVES his play ground. Every day when he gets home from school there are like 3 kids waiting outside for him. He just plays and plays. He is a pro at the monkey bars and has discovered that you can stand on the swing. I hope I don't have a nervous breakdown!
Soccer Win
Today was the last day of soccer for Tyler. They had a tournament and they played in 4 games. Game 1 they tied, game 2 they tied, game 3 they WON!!!! And game 4 they lost. The win was the first one this team has had. You should have seen these kids, they were so excited!! They were jumping up and down and the parents were like ready to cry we were so happy!! The boys were fourth place and got a medal. They were so happy you would have thought they got first!!

Art Project
Last night me and Tyler worked on his Valentine Art Project. We spent like an hour and half on this thing! We knew he had to do this project earlier in the week, so I have been searching the internet looking for something creative for us to do. (Trust me, I HAVE to search the internet, I think the other mothers contract out their children's art projects!!) The assignment was to take these three hearts and make them into a mobile being as creative as possible. He also had to write a story about them. So, I found this web site that showed me how to make hearts into animals - I printed the page and showed Tyler what we were going to try and do. His response, "Mom! This is going to be such a good idea!" Already I feel like a winner! I love it when he show appreciation and happiness, we were on the right track. I learned that I am not cut out to be a teacher and Tyler learned how to cut hearts, glue glitter onto them and paste on some googly eyes! We made an elephant, a butterfly and a mouse. They really were cute. When he took them to school this morning he told me that he was sure he was going to have the best one! I certainly hope so Tyler.

Super Bowl - Super Sleepy
Scott wanted Tyler to watch the Superbowl with him so I agreed. Tyler loves the Patriots, and this is a big game, so why not? Tyler didn't get home until 11! He was so tired the next day he was eating his breakfast with his eyes closed. When he got home that afternoon I was asking him about his day and what he learned, etc. He replied, "well, I went to sleep when I was reading my book." GREAT! Mrs. Manfred had to wake him up! I am sure they are thinking what a great parent I am. What first graders fall asleep in class?!?
I'm Perfect!
Friday night we went out to dinner with Christina and Kevin. I can't remember how the conversation came up, but Tyler was saying that he thought Mike was skinny. So of course I butt in, "do you think I am skinny?" And Tyler blurts out NO! Of course everyone starts laughing and he says, "You are perfect!" Isn't he sweet?

My Girl
This happened about a week ago, but I forgot to post it until now. I was looking for a movie to watch and I saw that My Girl was on. I decided to watch it and wanted Tyler to watch it with me too. I feel bad now, but at the time, I was thinking that I would be interested to see how he would react to this movie. So, I asked Tyler to come and watch the movie with me. At first he didn't want to, but then he saw the kids and got sucked in. At the part where the boy gets stung by the bees, Tyler was franticly asking, "Why doesn't he run mom? Why isn't he trying to get away?!" After that scene it shows his glasses lying on the ground and Tyler asked, "How is he going to see now?" Of course at this point I am bawling. In the movie, the dad tells the little girl the boy is dead, but doesn't just come out and say it, so Tyler missed that. When they wheel the body out, Tyler asked who is that? I told him that the little boy dies from the bee stings and it was so darling, but very sad - he responded with his eyes watering and his face turning red, "Oh mom, that is so sad." The way his said it was just so precious and innocent. I felt horrible for letting him watch the movie, but glad to see how sweet and caring he is. I of course explained to him it was just a movie and the kid was just pretending. I showed him the boy on Home Alone so he could see everything was fine.
