Red-eyed Tyler

It's official - Tyler has caught on to the whole getting sent to the nurses office thing! He is a FAKER! Yesterday the nurse called me from school and told me that Tyler's eye was red and he was saying that it hurt him. I got Tyler on the phone and he was all whiny asking me to come and get him cause his eye hurt so bad! I talked to the nurse again and she told me that Tyler is not the only one pulling these tricks, she said early in the week a child got sent home with pink eye and since then like 3-4 kids have came into the clinic claiming their eyes hurt. It's an epidemic!! So, I called my mom and she came and got Tyler and the first thing he said was, "NaNa, I know my eye hurts so bad, but if you still want to go to Target, I can do it!" What a little turd!

Grandparents Day

Wednesday, January 26th was grandparents day at Tyler's school. It was such a wonderful day! It started with a mass that talked a lot about grandparents and how special they are to us. Then, Tyler gave us a tour of his school. Max, Linda and my mom came. Tyler was so proud. He showed us the computer room, the art room, music and the gym. We also saw his class and he just happened to be student of the month, so that added an extra special element to the day. In every class we went to, the teachers had such nice things to say about Tyler. I have some really great pictures too, I will put them up soon. It was a great day. Tyler got his picture taken with them and also did some letters for them. The letters were like fill in the blank things and the questions were, I love my grandma/grandpa because.... For Max he put because he was good at Sly 2. For Linda he put because she was good at math and for my mom he put because she bought him a toy. They were pretty funny answers. One of the other things was, My grandma/grandpa is as pretty as... for Max it said gold, for my mom and Linda it said a flower. Isn't that sweet? The other funny thing that happened was Max took a picture of *Natalie and her mother when they were posing for another picture. We were all laughing because I am sure she was thinking Max was some sort of creep! We called him the stalker after that! *Natalie is Tyler's "girlfriend!" He really likes her and has since kindergarten, but so has every other boy in the school. She is a little cutie! (Not too sweet though.)

On to the mush - Max, Linda and mom - Thank you guys so much for coming. I know it meant a lot to Tyler and even more to me. I knew just by the look on his face when the 3 of you walked into his classroom how proud he was. I realize the how special it was for you guys to drive here from Jacksonville and I really hope you know how much I appreciate it. My main goal in this life is to make Tyler happy and I am so proud that he has you as grandparents and that you guys are there for him. I find comfort knowing that you guys are so supportive and loving to him. I am proud that Tyler doesn't even seem to care or realize that he comes from a broken family and I do thank you guys for your contribution to that. I love you all and you know Tyler does too.

Weekend Fun

We had a big weekend this weekend. Saturday morning Tyler had a soccer game and Papa and Lillie came and so did Scott. They didn't win, but near the end of the game it just started pouring! Of course this didn't bother Tyler in the slightest. Kids just love playing in the rain. Saturday afternoon Tyler and me and went to the Gasparilla Children's parade. We met Joe, Carol, Nick and Gina there. Tyler got like 200 beads! He was in heaven. We got really lucky and had a front row spot on the parade route. Tyler was catching beads like nobody's business! he caught a football, candy, coins and even a bag of popcorn. I am not sure what it is about beads, but kids just love them! We stayed and watched fireworks and went home after. Tyler was so pooped he fell asleep on the way home.

Sunday was the big Pinewood Derby race. Mike and Tyler turned the piece of wood they had into a tank. It was really great! (Yes, this is the same wood that Scott butchered!) It ended up being 12th place overall. (Out of 45 cars!) Tyler was pretty happy with that. Considering this was our first Pinewood Derby and we had NO idea what a big deal it is, we did pretty good.

Alex's Birthday

On Sunday I took Tyler to Alex's birthday party at Apollo, the gymnastics place. It was one of those parties that the parents can just drop the children off, but I wasn't totally comfortable leaving Tyler, so I stayed. It was such a fun party! We had a blast! There was this huge foam pit and you could just get lost in there. Tyler thought it was so funny to push me in there, and there was a rope swing that you could swing into the pit! All the kids were doing it and it looked like to much fun, so I gave it a try and reality hit me! The stupid thing grounded out! I was dragging across the floor!! It was so funny. Of course all the kids were laughing - I was too! We jumped on a huge tampoline and played parachute games and all sorts of fun things. Tyler loved this party. I am going to look into it for him. Heck, I might look into it for me!

The Birds and the Bees

Geez! I had my first awkward mom moment with Tyler on Thursday. We were watching the OC... I know, I know! He does not normally watch this, but he didn't have school on Friday so he was up late and was snuggling on the couch with me!... anyway, two of the characters were kissing so I go, "owwwww" just like joking because Tyler always laughs when people on TV kiss. So then Tyler says, "Owww, they are about to have sex!" You should have seen my face I was totally shocked! I thought I was going to pass out! So I looked at him in a shocked way and asked him what sex was and it was so cute because he looked at me like he could not believe I didn't know and then said, "you don't know?!?" I said no, and then he asked me if I knew what a smooch was? I said, a kiss? And he says yes! So I said, yes I know what a smooch is.. and then he said, "Well, that is what sex is, just longer!" Can you believe this child?! I was going to die if he actually knew what it was, I mean he is only 6!!!

Gift Bearer Tyler

I went to Tyler's mass this morning and he was the gift bearer. He was so cute and he takes his jobs so seriously. Of course I was so proud of him. I love seeing him at mass. I love seeing him sing his songs and say his prayers. He looks so sweet and so innocent. (And we all know, he is not these days!!) They always sing "God is an awesome God" and do the sign language. It is like the cutest thing ever!

Tyler the Faker

I got a call from Tyler's school yesterday at like 2:00 letting me know that Tyler was in the nurses office with a headache and a fever. Of course I am nervous that my child gets headaches because I just recently found out my headaches are migranes and they are hereditary. So, I am thinking Tyler gets migranes because he often complains of a headache. Anyway, I go and pick him up and take him home. He was like down in the dumps and acting tired. I actually thought he really must not be feeling well. So he lies down in bed and I give him the medicine, I leave the room and check the time - 3:00pm. I started to take down the Christmas Tree and I hear the bedroom door crack open, Tyler comes out stretching and yawning and says, "Mom, I have great news! Now that I took a nap my headache is gone! That medicine really works!" I look at the clock and it is 3:03pm. This kid cracks me up! You should have seen his acting skills! He is really funny. I remember doing that when I was little - it was like how long should I lay here so they will believe I took my nap?

First Day Back to School

Tyler went back to school yesterday and had a pretty good day. He wasn't hard to wake up or cranky at all. I asked him how his day was and he said, "It was good, we hardly did any work at all!" Mrs. Manfred must be breaking them back in slowly. He was happy to ride the bus home yesterday and played out side with his friends all afternoon. He had soccer at 7, but was passed out by 6:30! He was so tired, he slept right through soccer practice. Cutie!
